Properties
The root of ononide is generally ranked among the drugs with diuretic action. To this property joins declorurante and azoturica action. Following its administration is an increase in urine volume and at the same timea decrease in the intensity of the inflammatory status of the pelvis and bladder. For these properties it is often used in the prevention of inflammatory disorders and spastic in urinary tract, such as cystitis and kidney stones.
In folk medicine it is used the root decoction also against gout and against rheumatic pains, but no data exist to confirm these clinical indications.

0.1% essential oil: trans-anethole as the main component, carvone and menthol
Triterpenes: mainly α-onocerina (onocolo)
Isoflavones: ononina and pterocarpani Sterol especially sitosterol
